Digital Transformation

what does this phrase even mean? Its 2021, and there is not a single enterprise in the world that is operating without the use of significant computing. People sling the phrase digital transformation around in sales conversations as if they are introducing the capabilities of the internet and general purpose computing to organization that have never used a computer.

Take for example this excerpt from the first hit 1 on google for the search "digital transformation"

"Digital transformation is entering a new phase. As companies aim to perfect their digital strategy, those that succeed with digital business transformation will rapidly respond to changing digital environments and embrace new digital technologies and processes.

According to Gartner, 84% of consumers are disappointed with the digital services and products they encounter with businesses. In light of COVID-19 and rising consumer expectations, it’s clear that exceeding expectations for digitization will define businesses’ success immediately and into the future."

What utter garbage is that... lets try something fun... eating pancakes:

"Eating pancakes is entering a new phase. As companies aim to perfect their pancake strategy, those that succeed with eating business pancakes will rapidly respond to changing pancake environments and embrace new pancake technologies and processes.

According to Gartner, 84% of consumers are disappointed with the pancake services and products they encounter with businesses. In light of COVID-19 and rising consumer expectations, it’s clear that exceeding expectations for pancake-ation will define businesses’ success immediately and into the future."

Can someone explain why I keep hearing this phase?
